I wish I knew what side of Charlotte you were on...
I could help you better that way, I use to live on 4th street there.
I looked Up ShowMars, I've never eaten there, but it looks like a TGIF or Brennigans place all same food just redone and packaged a different way... looks pretty boring to me.

BUT this Genghis Grill Looks pretty dang tasty!
Let's get you out of the "chain" set of mind and get you some good eatin` !

Rock Bottom Brewery: 401 N Tryon St
Charlotte, NC 28202
An on the premises glass enclosed microbrewery is not the only attraction at Rock Bottom Brewery, though it is an eye-opener. This spacious eatery also offers free billiards in the backroom during the day and southern gourmand dining in the afternoons and evening. You'll find an excellent assortment of microbrews and imported specials, as well as succulently smoked and grilled meats, poultry and seafood. Casual

La'Wan's Soul Food Restaurant :7705 S Tryon St, #C
Charlotte, NC 28217
Review: Finally some real Southern Food!
I'm from up north, but I love southern realistic "Soul Food"! This was a great dining experience I look forward to having again and again! Real homemade mashed potatos, mac and cheese, and the chicken was juicy and falling off my fork! Two big thumbs up!

I was in Charlotte Visiting my family and I ate here... (My dad told me about it! yuuum)

Dude.. I know it's been awhile since I've "downtown".. But what I do in any town.. just walk on friday or saturday nights.. say from Panther Statidum up to Galleria, see where the action is.. where the girls hang out (before I got married)
and what's thumping. You'll see people in the Bar & Grill scene, I think Last time I was stuck of 85 near gastonia and ate at someting like Don Pablo's or something.. Near Media Play, I got out that taffic sat at the bar.. ate some great food made a few friends. Across the highway is the Outback I ALWAYS like their food and the bar was great. Get lost one night.. go out towards Matthews to the HUGE outlet mall they have theatres and food galore. With in 6 blocks of discovery places are many great little eating places. JUST take a chance get out of that same ol' same ol'.
Some places I found were like after Panther's games.. from either ads on the radio, following people up town agter games and see where they eat. There are too many good places in Charlotte to miss out on.
Wish I could remember the place I ate after the game they use to do after games interviews and you got to meet players etc... name escapes me bro... sorry.
Listen you your fav radio stations, they advertise your favorite food style places? Jot em down and try.. what have you got to lose, hit a dud, go to the next place.

OK PEACE MAN...
